Spring Fiesta in the Park

Spring Fiesta in the Park

The weekend before last thousands of people headed to Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando to enjoy the 28th Annual Spring Fiesta in the Park, a two-day family-friendly event held on Saturday, April 1st and Sunday, April 2nd. This free community event was a welcome opportunity for more than 200 artists and crafters who came from all over the country to display and sell their original work. Vendors were lined in tented booths along the streets and around the park. Some of the work featured at Fiesta included beautiful handmade jewelry, paintings, crafts, glass art home décor and much more. Patrons enjoyed live music along with a wide variety of food stalls and lots of family and kid-friendly activities while strolling through the park. A huge kid’s play area with bounce houses, games, train rides around the lake and face painting were some of the fun-filled activities that made for a perfect outdoor weekend for the family. Spring Fiesta in the Park also had a special place for your four-legged friends to enjoy and relax. Several pet adoption booths were present at the event’s Pet Fiesta area, with additional rescue groups placed at several locations all around the park. A big thank you to our 11-time presenting sponsor Southern Ford Dealers, the City of Orlando, Central Florida Expressway Authority and Tobacco Free Florida for sponsoring this year’s Spring Fiesta in the Park! Be on the lookout for a fully revamped Fiesta in the Park web site with more information for the general public and a new and simple artist, crafter and food vendor registration process coming soon to www.fiestainthepark.com.  ...

Internship by Preeti Rana

Coming from a TV Production background and completely different part of the world culturally and physically in India, I had no idea where to start after pursuing my specialization in Corporate Communications from the University of Central Florida. While searching for jobs in several media companies within Orlando, I came across Cox Media Group. The more I read about their work, the more I felt connected and yearned to work there. From my past work experience, I have realized that one of the best ways to get your foot inside a big organization like this is through its internship program. I still remember my interview day with Dan and Natasha for their Social Media Intern position and getting the ‘good news’ call from Natasha on my way back home after my interview. It was everything I could have asked for that day. I joined Cox Events Group (a Cox Media Group subsidiary in Orlando and known as CEG around the office) as an intern and started in January. Sadly though, my happy journey hit a speed bump after a few weeks when my work permit expired. With the ongoing political environment and the discussion around immigration laws, negative thoughts crashed into my head. The constant fear of losing this internship which I merely had just begun was my biggest worry. You can make a living from any job but having peace of mind is priceless. Cox Events Group was supportive throughout this process and worked with me patiently until I got my work permit renewed. Now that I’ve started my training once again, my mind is filled with the...

Upcoming Events for Us

The City of Orlando’s 11th Annual Blues B-Q Featuring dual headliners Robert Randolph and the Family Band and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, this year’s eleventh installment of Blues B-Q is another way the City of Orlando continues to shine on the national stage with diverse events. Alongside great local and national artists performing on two stages, we have lined up the usual suspects: Local barbecue vendors you cannot necessarily find in a traditional brick and mortar or in other cities. We’ve found the best in brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and sausage, let alone the sides, like homemade mac ‘n cheese, black eyed peas, baked beans, cole slaw and fries. Over the past decade of Blues B-Qs, there have been performances by Buddy Guy, the late, great Koko Taylor, Jonny Lang, Trombone Shorty, Robert Cray and WAR. Cox Events Group started partnering with the City of Orlando in 2007 and we’ve never looked back. While Wes from our team books and manages the national talent, Mariah manages our second stage and puts in extra time performing with her band, Mo’mo-Browne. Natasha and Dan handle all sponsor and vendor relations prior to and during the event, while Felicia plays band liaison and runner the entire day. Cox Events is supported on-site by a group of talented interns and radio station promotions staff, not to mention our amazing production partners like Complete Production Resources, Nelsons Tents and Events, Andy Frain Security Services and a handful more that make our production run seamlessly. The City of Orlando’s Fireworks at the Fountain

The City of Orlando’s Fireworks at the Fountain

For nearly four decades, the City of Orlando has hosted this amazing event at iconic Lake Eola Park in the heart of our downtown. For the eleven years I’ve been part of Cox Events Group, we’ve had the pleasure of working alongside the City’s Communications Team as the production arm that executes the logistics for the event. We’re keeping things fresh this year with a new television partner, News 6. We are excited to have them on-board, and they will broadcast live from the park, which is pretty cool and it’s the only fireworks show to run live on television in Central Florida. So if you can’t make it out of the house that night, we’ve got you covered on TV, no problem. This heritage event is pretty spectacular and includes the following awesome American-ness: Tons of vendors – as in 20+ food options, including everything from Americana to German to Greek to Thai – truly the American eating experience. We’ve got another 30+ sponsors that offer everything from games to prizes to shady/dry hangout areas around the park. Live music – we’ve got it. In multiple areas of the park, you’ll get to see and hear solo acoustic acts to engaging musical trios to our local orchestra, the Orlando Concert Band. Four major downtown roads are closed for the event, including Rosalind Avenue, Robinson Street, Eola Drive and Central Boulevard, which creates a square perimeter around the park that allows us to welcome thousands upon thousands of extra guests to Lake Eola. A mirrored Orlando skyline gets interesting around 9:10 when the fireworks go off. You can actually...
Event Production Services

Event Production Services

Thinking about producing a large-scale event? What do you need, a killer stage production with an engaging customer service-focused AV team? How about affordable quotes and invoices that don’t sacrifice quality from your rental partners? Maybe the legalities of your event are a pain in the ass – you’re not in love with permitting or the time-consuming legwork that goes into it. We get it. It’s what we do day-in and day-out. Working in the event industry, it’s not a gig you can pinpoint job skills, explaining exactly what you do on a day-to-day basis very easily. It evolves, is wide-ranging and responsibilities shift all the time. Knowing that, it’s awesome that our team is completely interchangeable. Everyone at Cox Events Group can do the job of everyone else – whether that’s playing stage manager, taking on the role of logistics lead, or acting as account rep for our corporate event sponsors…we do it for every event we produce, which totals about forty throughout the year. One of our proudest accomplishments achieved over the past fifteen years are the relationships we have built and continue to cultivate year after year. Not only do we treat our partners and others with complete transparency, professionalism and brutal honesty, we value them as friends. Some are vendors we worked with before or started working with during the recession that gave us great deals because other event producers were going away, building a trust almost instantly that continues to thrive today. Some work for local governments and DMCs that we really enjoy partnering with. Others are former employees we have stayed close with...
